WHAT HANS LAAGLAND PAINTS |
|
|
It does not matter what the painter paints, but how he paints it. |

A portrait must be painted entirely from life. When the model is inanimate, then the portrait becomes a still life. |
When the painter uses photographs as an aid the painting deteriorates. |

The personality of the artist is most clearly apparent when he paints his landscapes by making preparatory |
sketches in nature and doing the actual painting in his studio. |

F L O R A L C O M P O S I T I O N S |
Hans Laagland had been painting still lifes with fruit in a passionate way |
for more than twenty years when he painted his first floral painting in 2006. |
Still lifes with fruit are closest to his heart. |
Fruits for him are like nudes, produced in gardens |
Right from his very first floral painting, he tried to interpret them |
and approach them practically like still lifes with fruit. |
